fragrant white flowers are produced singularly on

| A lovely,
vigorous plant with bright green leaves and scented
waxy, white flowers from spring to summer. The blooms
are followed by small, spherical fruit with sweetish,

Unlike most citrus, the Calamondine orange is quite
hardy and very resistant to cold but is best grown in a
pot and in colder areas should be moved to a frost-free
place in winter. |

Fig
- 'Ficus carica Brown Turkey' |
| This
deciduous, spreading shrub with decorative, 3- or
5-lobed, mid-green leaves is best grown as against a
south or south-west facing wall. In long, hot summers it
will produce an abundant crop of brown, pear-shaped
fruit with red flesh. These are rich and sweet and
available for picking from August to September. An
interesting and easy plant to grow, and is among one of
the oldest fruits in cultivation. |

Olive
Tree - 'Olea
europaea' |
| Tiny,
fragrant, creamy-white, summer flowers and grey-green
leaves, retained all year. This elegant, evergreen tree

Mediterranean-style garden. In frost-prone areas it's
best grown in a large container under glass or planted
at the base of a sunny, sheltered wall. |

Kiwi Fruit -
'Actinidia' |
| Creamy-white,
early summer flowers on robust shoots covered with
reddish-brown hairs, followed by delicious,
greenish-brown Kiwi fruit. Ideal for training up a
pergola or against a wall, even a free standing pole in
a sunny position. This special variety is self fertile,
meaning you do not need several plants to produce fruit,
and it will start producing within a year of planting.
Early ripening means fruit can be gathered before the
arrival of cooler weather. It also has a more compact
habit than most, a useful trait if garden space is at a
premium. |

Nectarine
- 'Prunus persica nucipersica' |
| Nectarines
originate from the Orient and now thrive on a commercial
basis in Mediterranean areas. They do best in a
sheltered sunny site in the UK. We have grown and
fruited them sucessfully on the nursery without any
protection, so would suggest they are well worth a go
throughout the country. If grown as a fan-trained tree
against a south-facing wall, they will certainly produce
a large crop of delicious fruit in many areas. |
