Work Rest Play has been designed for a couple who have taken early retirement but continue to run a small business from home to supplement their income. The design is colourful and easy to maintain, allowing the couple to spend their time working or enjoying the fruits of their labour. The large garden room serves as an office or somewhere to relax, read and play chess or Scrabble. The focal point of the garden is the Humphrey Bowden acer fountain, which brings another dimension to the design when illuminated at night. The couple's interest in art is emphasised by the strategic placing of Lilia Umana Clarke sculptures. Despite the contemporary surroundings, the planting is traditional and has been chosen for its low maintenance requirements.
