Cheshire's
Gardens of Distinction Lost Beauty has been created by six
enthusiastic students from Clusius College. The garden's
theme is the mystery over whether Mary Fitton, who lived at
Gawsworth Hall, was the Dark Lady mentioned in Shakespeare's
sonnets. The title of the garden refers to the end of Mary's
life. The garden features vertically planted walls that give
a spacious, verdant feel and include a selection of wild
plants. The grasses rustling in the wind and the path that
appears to float create a sense of mystery. Rosa The Dark
Lady ('Ausbloom') is planted in the restful pond. The
planting has a colour scheme of blue, purple, dark brown and
white, cold colours that represent the final loneliness of
the Dark Lady. |
