| Tulip
(Tulipa) is a genus of about 100 species of
flowering plants in the family Liliaceae. |

|
| They are
perennial bulbous plants growing to 10-70 cm tall, with
a small number of strap-shaped, waxy-textured, usually
glaucous green leaves and large flowers with six tepals.
The fruit is a dry capsule containing numerous flat
disc-shaped seeds. |
| Tulips are
among the most versatile of all Spring bulbs. The range
is enormous and by careful selection they can provide a
fine display from as early as February until the end of
May. |
