 Navelwort - Omphalodes
Omphalodes are more commonly referred to as navelwort however you may also hear them being called Argentine forget-me-nots due to the similarities between the flowers. Omphalodes are annuals, biennials or perennials that are perfect additions to any garden no matter what style you have. They are fast growing and produce delicate clusters of white or pale blue flowers from spring to summer. They are hardy plants that will thrive in a variety of soil as long as it is fertile, they will also adapt to well drained, moist or poorly drained conditions depending on the species chosen.
Seed can be sown direct in spring and thinned out to 15cm once the plants are sturdy enough to be handled or planted in an area with full sun or partial shade. To encourage a bushier appearance simply pinch out the growing tips and once the plant has flowered cut back to further stimulate growth.
