| Oxalis is the largest genus of
Oxalidaceae family better known as wood-sorrel, they can be annuals
or perennials with bowl or funnel shaped flowers that close at
night. Oxalis is an edible plant and obtained the nickname
wood-sorrel due to the taste being similar to that of sorrel which
is part of a different family of plants. Colour, size and hardiness
varies between varieties making oxalis a versatile plant to have in
the garden, they are perfect for edging borders and paths and for
growing in hard to maintain areas. Uses include ground cover and
concealing unsightly areas whilst also looking attractive in hanging
baskets and rock gardens. |
| Oxalis thrives in full or partial
shade in a variety of soils that are well drained and moist and
requires no pruning. Due to the vastness of varieties it would be
beneficial to follow the instructions included with the plants
to ensure preferred growing conditions and spacing are
provided. |
