pot plant or ideal for growing in a sheltered position
in the garden, in almost all areas of Britain. Sow in
trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or
warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 75-80F
(25-27C). Sowing Depth: ¼in (6mm). Sow anytime of year,
first soaking the seed for 24 hours in a flask of tepid
water. |

is the strongest and most successful hardy palm variety.
The trunk is covered in rope-like fibres and the crown
produces spectacular, fan-shaped leaves. If this palm is
planted in the garden, it can withstand temperatures as
low as -18ºC, although planted in a tub or pot it will
need some protection in winter. |

handsome Chusan palm makes an excellent specimen plant
for sunny exotic garden or courtyard. Although it's one
of the most reliably hardy palms it's important to
choose a sheltered spot and protect young specimens
grown in cold areas with a warm, winter wrap. |
