Lawn aerators are a fantastic addition to every garden shed and will provide you with a lawn that is the envy of all of your neighbours. Designed to aerate the soil upon which your lawn is grown they not only assist in drainage but also boost the amount of healthy bacteria that is essential to the nutrient cycle by increasing the level of oxygen in the soil.
Lawn compaction is quite common especially in areas that have heavy clay soils. Compaction can damage your lawn by preventing oxygen from getting to your grass roots thus creating a lawn that will turn less drought resistant.
There are many types of lawn aerators available, the most commonly used being spiked and hollow tined.

Manual Hollow Tine Aerators

Spring Loaded - 'Handy' Hollow Tine Aerator

The Handy Hollow Tine Aerator: The Hollow Tine Aerator from Handy with 5 hollows sprung tines is an effective tool for aerating your lawn.

The 5x20mm steel hollow tines can remove up to 50mm core of turf, allowing the infiltration of air, moisture and nutrients.

It features a tread plate for easy use and a collecting tray for the soil cores. It also has a folding handle for easy storage.

Hollow Tine Aerator

For deep and thorough aeration of compacted and poorly drained areas of the lawn, this hollow tine aerator will let oxygen and water down to the roots and encourage more vigorous and healthy growth.

The design allows you to use your foot on a crossbar to give even distribution of pressure without having to strain arms or your back. There are five hollow tines and each one removes a plug of earth leaving a hole to fill with sand to establish long-term drainage and discourage moss growth.

Hollow Tine Aerator

The perfect device to provide deep and thorough aeration of very compacted or poorly drained areas. It allows the air to circulate and improves drainage, encouraging more vigorous growth and discouraging moss. Simply push into the ground with your foot on the cross bar to remove small plugs of earth. Agri-Fab Walk Behind Aerator
