This wonderful collection of 13 varieties of wild plug plants is perfect for attracting bumble bees. By encouraging bumble bees in to your garden they will return the favour by pollinating your flowers, fruit and vegetables giving you an excellent set on your blossom. They are natures most industrious and harmless workers, never swarming and most don't have stings either.

Individual Plants........

The following list of plants will attract a variety of wildlife into your garden, all of which are available to buy online. Take a look at the right hand section of this page for the animal icons that each plant will attract.

Achillea Filipendulina (Yarrow) - Flat plate-like heads of deep golden-yellow flowers from June to September and fern-like, light green leaves. Bees and many other insects suck nectar or collect pollen.
Alyssum (Lobularia) - A low carpet of diminutive, cross-shaped summer flowers in delicate shades of apricot. A butterflies favourite.
Aucuba (Japanese Laurel) - This resilient evergreen shrub is perfect for inhospitable, shady areas of the garden where little else will grow. Birds are partial to the berries and the dense foliage is a great nesting place for blackbirds.
Berberis (Barberry) - Clusters of striking, dark orange or yellow flowers in mid- and late spring, followed by bluish-purple autumn berries, and spiny, dark green, holly-like leaves. Attracts a large range of wildlife.
Buddleia (Butterfly Bush) - Elegant white form of the butterfly bush which produces huge clusters of fragrant, yellow-eyed white flowers on arching stems from July to September. Swarms of butterflies will attend this plant in summer. Can become quite large but responds well to hard pruning.
Callicarpa (Beauty Berry) - A lovely deciduous shrub with small pink flowers in mid-summer and large packed clusters of violet bead-like berries in autumn. The berries are eaten by a variety of birds.
Ceanothus (Californian Lilac) - Dazzling, dark blue, late spring flowers adored by bees borne on arching branches and glossy, dark green leaves. 
Centaurea Cyanus (Cornflower) - Piercing, bright blue flowers with violet blue centres from early to late summer and lance-shaped, mid-green leaves. A good bee and butterfly plant the flowers are rich in nectar.
Cistus (Rock Rose) - Pretty, pale purplish-pink, papery flowers set against soft, grey-green, downy leaves in June and July. The flowers are very attractive to bees.
Cotoneaster - Large clusters of flowers in June, followed by spherical, golden-yellow autumn berries, and deeply veined, pale green leaves. Bees feed on the summer nectar and birds enjoy the berries in autumn.
Cystisus (Broom) - In late spring and early summer the arching stems of this pretty shrub are covered with ruby-red, pea-like flowers. The flowers are a source of nectar for butterflies.
Daphne - Clusters of fragrant, red-purple flowers from December to March and lustrous, deep green leaves with irregular yellow margins. Attracts birds, bees and other insects.
Dipsacus (Teasel) - Often grown by gardeners to attract Goldfinches. The teasel is also a popular plant for nectar loving insects, especially honey bees
Erigeron (Mexican Fleabane) - Masses of yellow centred, white daisy like flowers from June to October, fading to pink and purple, above clumps of hairy, grey green leaves. Attractive to a range of insects.
Escallonia - Masses of pale apple-blossom pink, tubular flowers from June to September and glossy, dark green leaves. Nectar attracts bees and butterflies.
Hebe - Short, lilac-blue summer flowers that butterflies adore and grey-green leaves with slender, silver margins and veining when young, turning vivid burgundy in autumn. 
Hedera (Ivy) - Versatile and vigorous evergreen climber. Essential food source for butterflies bees, and other insects as well as offering a nesting opportunity for birds.
Helianthus Annus (Sunflower) - Magnificent large yellow flower heads. Let the flowers turn to seed in the autumn.
Hesperis Matronalis (Sweet Rocket) - Deliciously scented, pale lilac flowers held above rosetes of dark green leaves. A good bee, butterfly and moth plant.
Hypericum (St. John's Wort) - Cheerful, yellow, cup-shaped flowers from July to October and strikingly variegated mid-green, cream and pink leaves.
Ilex (Holly) - Lustrous, spiny, dark green leaves and long-lasting, bright red berries from autumn to winter. Attracts holly blue butterflies. Birds take advantage of its spiny protection.
Lavendula (Lavender) - Dense spikes of fragrant, pale to deep purple summer flowers and grey-green foliage. This English lavender is perfect for a sunny, well-drained border.
Leycesteria formosa (Himalayan Honeysuckle) - Long, pendent clusters of white flowers surrounded by wine-coloured bracts, followed by spherical, red-purple berries.
Ligustrum (Privet Hedge) - Dense clusters of white flowers in July and August followed by shiny, spherical, black fruit and oval, rich-green leaves.
Poached Egg Plant Limnanthes douglasii (Poached Eggs) - Masses of fragrant, yellow-centred white flowers from June to September and fleshy, fern-like, bright yellow-green leaves.
Lonicera Periclymenum (Honeysuckle) - Between June and August this pretty variegated honeysuckle is smothered with masses of fragrant, tubular, rose-purple flowers with yellow lips.
Lunaria Annua (Honesty) - Rich purple, pink or white flowers in May and June followed by pearl-like, translucent seed-pods.
Mahonia - Erect spikes of fragrant, pale yellow flowers, from December to March, and whorls of blue-green, holly-like leaves.
Nepeta (Catmint) - Slender spikes of lavender blue summer flowers and aromatic, silver grey green leaves.
Perovskia (Russian Sage) - Clusters of violet-blue, tubular flowers on upright, grey-white shoots in August and September and deeply-cut and lobed, grey-green leaves.
Potentilla - Lovely, long sprays of bright scarlet, saucer shaped flowers above clumps of hairy, strawberry-like leaves.
Pyracantha - Upright, later spreading, evergreen shrub with dark green leaves, spiny branches and bunches of small white flowers in late spring.
Rhamnus Frangula - (Italian Buckthorn) A handsome, evergreen shrub with wonderful, white-margined grey-green leaves and yellowish green flowers, followed by red fruit ripening to black. For brimstone butterflies and bees.
Ribes Sanguineum - (Flowering Currant) Upright shrub with bright green leaves and hanging clusters of dark red flowers with white centres, which smother the bush in April. Easy to grow.
Scabiosa - Dramatic, pincushion-like flower heads in mid and late summer, above clumps of lance shaped, grey green leaves.
Sedum - Succulent, grey-green leaves, topped with large, flat heads of bright pinkish-mauve flowers in summer. Great food source for butterflies and bees.
Skimmia - A spreading, evergreen shrub with white flowers in April and May and slightly aromatic, lance-shaped, dark green leaves.
Syringa - Dense clusters of wonderfully scented, double, lavender blue flowers from purple buds in May and June and heart shaped, mid green leaves.
Thymus (Garden Thyme) - A small, bushy sub-shrub with bright purple to white flowers in late spring and early summer. Garden thyme is ideal for a sunny herb garden or a large, well-drained container. Great food source for butterflies and bees.
Ulex (Holly) - Lustrous, spiny, dark green leaves and long-lasting, bright red berries from autumn to winter. Bees and bumblebees collect its nectar and pollen. Many birds, such as thrushes, robins, dunnocks, finches and goldcrests, use it for nesting as it provides excellent protection.
Viburnum - Flattened heads of tubular, white flowers in May, followed by metallic, turquoise-blue fruit, and distinctively veined, dark green leaves. Good for bees, butterflies and birds.
Weigela - Masses of funnel-shaped, pale pink flowers on graceful arching stems in May and June and white-edged, grey-green leaves. Excellent for bees.
