Hear our Cry
Hear our Cry
Designer: Andrew Walker (Walker Landscape Design) / Contractor: Walker Landscape Design

Hear Our Cry has been created to highlight the work of the NSPCC, a charity with the purpose of ending cruelty to children. In September 2008, the NSPCC launched its Child's Voice Appeal to answer more children's cries for help. Every day, thousands of children need to talk to ChildLine about a problem they face, while hundreds of caring adults call the NSPCC helpline, worried about a child's safety. Hear Our Cry is the name of the NSPCC appeal in Greater Manchester, which aims to promote and improve helplines locally. The garden depicts a child's journey when making a call to ChildLine. Before the call is made, the child feels isolated, symbolised by planting in muted shades. The sweeping path represents the process of the call itself, ending in bright, vibrant planting to demonstrate that the child feels they have been listened to and are therefore in a better place.
